Twins sisters Brianna and Angelica Stafford have both been betrothed to marry unknown men by their parents.
Neither woman is very thrilled with their upcoming nuptials. Brianna first learned of her misfortune six months ago while still in boarding school. She is to marry her father's best friend, an admired viscount. While, the twins are at their Aunt Freddie's home for the season, Angelica learns that her husband-to-be is the Earl of Saxford, Nicholas Santrell, a man who has a bad reputation as a womanizer. Consequently, the twins and their aunt come up with a brilliant plan. Because of Angelica's shyness, Brianna will pose as Angelica in order to convince Nicholas that they are not well-suited for marriage.
It is time for Nicholas to take a wife but he has no intention of ever giving up his womanizing ways once he marries. Nicholas is very excited to learn that his bride-to-be is Angelica Stafford, the enormously shy daughter of the Duke of Durham. However, upon meeting her for the first time, Nicholas is shocked to discover that his fiancée is not timid at all, but instead is a very candid woman who is dead set against marrying him. Not accustomed to women saying no to him, Nicholas is a little disturbed and very intrigued by Angelica's behavior. Also, he is evermore determined to marry and win Angelica's heart.
Julie Templeton has written a superb, smashing historical hit with Masquerade . Although, switching identities is a very common act between identical twin sisters, Masquerade is the perfect title for the plot of this fascinating tale. The entire story focuses on Brianna pretending to be her twin sister in order to break a marriage engagement. I admired Brianna's robust spirit and her refusal to fall at Nicholas's feet like the many women from his past. Nicholas was a true hottie that I adored. He oozed great sex appeal - strikingly handsome, exceedingly enchanting and vastly persuasive all
rolled into one. Nicholas' foreplay with Brianna is very arousing and passionate. No wonder it was so difficult for
Brianna to ignore his charms. The chemistry and sexual encounters between the couple were extremely intense and incredibly sensual. And, let's not forget about the secondary characters. Angelica, Aunt Freddie and Brianna's best friend, Peter added a humorous flair to the story. Historical fans will be fascinated with Ms. Templeton's impassioned scenes and elegant dress descriptions. Overall, I found Masquerade to be a wonderful, sensational, romantic story.

I was enchanted with Masquerade. It is unbelievably romantic. Nicholas is gorgeous and charming and overwhelmingly sexy. I wanted to wrap myself around him and never let go! Brianna is beautiful and passionate. Her eager response to Nicholas is arousing. Nicholas was a rake, but once he meets Brianna, he wants her and no other. Had Brianna's sister Angelica been stronger, Nicholas and Brianna could have been together much sooner. Although she is not cruel, Angelica is weak. As a result Brianna had to forsake her happiness for her sister's at first. I felt bad for Brianna and a little frustrated too, but it didn't dampen my feelings about this story. Nicholas and Brianna still captivate me with their arduous plight and the heat of their passion. Packed with emotion and sensuality, Julia Templeton's Masquerade is a very sensual historical romance that should not be missed!

Ms. Templeton has written a wonderful love story times three. Three couples bound to fall in love with one another. This historical romance has some wonderful characters such as a doting Aunt, a colorful friend added to the mix, and it is almost comedic the way these characters all pull together for true love. Definitely a winner!

While the plot line of twins masquerading as each other is common, Brianna is a great character who is empathetic and likable. She is also the perfect companion to Nicholas, at least the reformed Nicholas. Their appreciation for each other is wonderful and, combined with the hot sex, their romance made the book for me. The background characters are well connected to the story. Aunt Freddie and Peter are so interesting they almost push the other supporting people into the background. Masquerade is a classic tale with familiar themes and is a very interesting historical. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Templeton and hope Peter's story will come out soon.

MASQUERADE is a perfect title for this book because it is the basis for the entire plot. Brianna is nothing like her twin sister and has much more moxy and attitude. Nicholas thinks the world should revolve around him and no woman should turn him down for anything. Seeing this couple interact is an adventure in itself and wonderfully exciting. The love scenes are passionate and full of sensuality. Julia Templeton has penned a great story with plenty to keep the reader interested throughout the book. I look forward to seeing what her future endeavors will bring. Angel, Romance Junkies
